Welcome to the site that has a little bit of something for everyone!!

I want to talk about Effort. Have you ever wondered how successful people get where they are? Do you think that it’s luck? And once they get to the top of their field, how do they stay there? Well I can tell you from experience that it takes a lot of hard work, sacrifice, dedication and determination. That’s called EFFORT!!! You have to try harder than everyone else. The more you put in, the further you will strengthen your chances of accomplishing your dreams and goals! Along the way you will encounter problems, negative attitudes, and people who just don’t understand you or your goals! That’s when it takes more EFFORT to keep going.

Remember the saying, ‘When the going gets tough..... the tough get tougher!’

Debit Cards V Credit Cards

When you’re under 18, you’re lucky!! You can’t get into trouble with credit cards as you are under the legal age! But a lot of young people are encouraged to get credit cards when they turn 18!! Beware as misuse of a credit card is one of the easiest ways to get into debt.

Let’s first look at the differences between the two. A debit card gives you access to your own money, so you are limited to withdraw or spend only as much as is in your account. When you turn 18 you can get a Visa or Mastercard debit card which still only gives you access to your own money but allows you to use it like a credit card for purchases online and it can also be used overseas. The great thing about debit cards is that they encourage you to keep your spending under control and you are ‘forced’ to manage your money.

At 18, you are legally entitled to get a credit card but what are they, really? Using a credit card means that you choose a credit limit, say $1000- and your financial institution will allow you to spend up to that limit. So, you are spending money before you have earned it and you promise to pay it back usually with interest.

You need to have a lot of self-control to have a credit card! Getting it is easy but managing it is a different story. Having a credit card is a huge responsibility, one that will affect nearly every aspect of your life. Don’t feel pressured into getting a credit card especially if you don’t manage your money effectively because unless you pay your debt off in full at the end of the month, your debt will grow because you are charged interest on all your purchases.
