Debit Cards V Credit Cards

When you’re under 18, you’re lucky! You can’t get into trouble with credit cards as you are under the legal age! But a lot of young people are encouraged to get credit cards when they turn 18! Beware as misuse of a credit card is one of the easiest ways to get into debt.

Other Budgeters

Budgets are used by many different types of people who need to control where money is going.

Most mums and dads find that with a house to pay off, cars to run and kids to raise, a household budget is an absolute must-have. It helps them keep on top of bills and money they may owe, as and to plan for fun things like Christmas and holidays for the family. Not to mention keeping everyone fed, clothed and healthy!

Businesses too, work to budgets. Even the richest, biggest businesses in the world need to know for sure where their money will go.

For example, companies like Myer, need to think about what it costs to have staff behind the cash registers, electricity to run their giant stores and a huge range of stock on the shelves for us to buy. Suddenly running out of money for any of these things would be a disaster! Certainly, Myer would have a very detailed budget to take care of it all, so you probably won't be shopping there in the dark any time soon.

Even the Prime Minister has his own budget to control – the budget of Australia! Running a whole country – providing roads, hospitals, schools, defence force, drinking water and many of the things we take for granted every day – means looking after masses of money (most of it comes from the income tax we pay when we work). What a job!

So you're not alone. And chances are you'll be dealing with budgets at work and at home for many years to come!
